First Boat done!

Last weekend the first boat was finish and swapped out at OSU for another boat to work on. There are still a couple pieces of hardware to put on, including cam cleats, but we want to sail the boats first to figure out the best placement for them. More updates to follow.

Interlux Boat Paint

Interlux has agreed to also help in the painting of our boats, to protect them for years to come. We will be getting Bright side Top Side paint, in their version of Scarlet and Grey...Fire Red and Kingston Grey.

Thanks Interlux.

Samson Donation

Today we heard back from Samson Ropes. They have said that we have a "box of goodies" on our way. Which is thought to contain various line scraps to be used as control lines on the boats. But we will see when it comes!

Update: Today we received the box, and to Samson a "box of goodies" meant three boxes, including a partial spool, and many other assorted lines.

Thanks Samson!

Marson

Today we also received word from Marson, part of Alcoa. They agreed to donate various sizes of rivets, along with a rivet gun.

Thanks Marson/Alcoa!

Pettit Rocks!

Bob Harris, the area's Pettit rep, called me this morning and made a awesomely generous pledge of easypoxy Topside paint. Our boats are going to look classy in scarlet and grey. I can't wait until we get to work. Thank you Pettit!

Update: West Systems

The other day we received our order from West Systems. At substantially discounted prices we receive our 105 resin, 205 hardener, and various fillers, and glass tape and cloth.

Thank you West Systems!

Update: Schaefer Marine

We received a message back from Schaefer Marine who has agreed to donate Cam Cleats with fair leads for our project. This is a really huge help, as our old cam cleats have definitely seen better days, and don't even spring back to grab line currently.

Thank you Schaefer!

Here is a link with the cleats:

I embedded some pictures of the boats we took last week. We're using these when we email companies asking for assistance. Shows what we are starting with.

Tyler and I are planning on renovating a few of OSU's boats this summer. Already we have been identifying what needs to be done and making plans. West Systems has pledged a 50% discount on epoxy products and we are working on getting other sponsorships. I figured it may be interesting to keep a blog so that parties can keep track of our progress. I've never used blogspot before so I apologize ahead of time for any clunkiness. We'll work it out over time.
